A Christmas Vacation at Walt Disney World

December 1 - 8, 2001

A little over a year ago after reading about all the beautiful decorations and festivities that Walt Disney World does for the Holidays I started thinking it might be fun to make a trip at Christmas.  After talking it over with Wendy we made plans and set up a reservation at the Boardwalk Villas.  We then invited my Mother to come along and invited my Sister's family to share the holidays at Walt Disney World with us.

At the time we never dreamed what the economy would do and what chaos that would cause in all of our lives.  My last contract ended in June - I haven't been able to find work since.  In October we made the decision to put Wendy back to work to keep us from going backward too fast.  At the same time, Jim's business was not doing well.  He decided to sell it - then they decided to sell everything and buy a boat.  The Mickel's boat story is an epic in itself but they - like us are living on savings right now as we all wait for the economy to improve so we can start becoming productive citizens of our great country again.

Through all that our Christmas vacation had been planned and all the costs had been prepaid so we took a trip to Walt Disney World.  The following three pages in a small way chronicle that vacation.

This is the Christmas Tree in the Town Square on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom.
Here is Main Street USA all decorated for Christmas.  This is looking back from the Castle.
What could be better 2 weeks before Christmas than a nice dip in the pool.  Here is Connor - he looks like a Ninja Turtle in his bathing suit.
Here are Cory and Devin - not quite up to the big pool yet, but having a great time.
